The Free Market Economy is a Joke

I know many "team player" Republicans will always through out the word "free market" when it comes to economic issues. The theory, which made since before corporations, when everything was owned by individuals, is that the "free market" would sort it out. Meaning if you ran a bad business then people wouldn't use your business and you would then go out of business. On the flip side if you had the best products, service, etc. you would be successful because the "free market" would reward you.

The problem is this hasn't been true for some time now. I think corporations were a big part of the decline of what a "free market" does for businesses. When its shareholders & board of directors and CEO's there isn't the same ownership of said businesses. There are loopholes, bankruptcies where they can clear their debt, corporate welfare laws and tax break "incentives" for corporations. None of those things existed when the "free market" idea was conceived.

A great example that has been in the news this week is United Airlines. A "business" that has been terrible for a longtime. If the "free market" was a real thing now they would have been out of business years ago. Do you think this is just speculation on my part? Well then take the fact that United Airlines was bailed out by the United States Federal Government in 2002. They took nearly $464 million dollars of taxpayer money to recoup their losses and keep them in business. If you are a real Republican and you are reading this, it should drive you crazy that we bailed out this garbage company.

Fast forward 15 years later they are still terrible and making the news in all the bad ways to this day. How can anyone claim to be fiscally conservative and think that this is "free market" economics? People need to stop playing, "team politics" and start using their fucking common sense.

What is the alternative you may ask? Holding corporations responsible. Bringing back main streets by severally cutting back on foreign trade. Actually punishing corporations for moving jobs overseas through real tariffs that makes it to expensive not to build here in the U.S. These are real common sense things that could be done, and if you think about it shouldn't divide political parties. The problem is that it hurts the wealthy (which is practically every politician in the Senate & House plus the President) who have friends that would lose a great deal of income if this stuff happened. It's not a political party issue its a wealthy vs. everyone else issue and people need to wise up to this nonsense.
