Made in the USA

So I am not super big into labels but I'm also not the type of person that refuses to point out a certain philosophy that I believe in for fear of being labeled. With that said I would like to think of myself as a Progressive that doesn't adhere to any political party or any parties ideals. I like to take a subject and form my own opinion based on facts, and my own personal values. This means some issues I come off as having a very liberal point of view and some issues a very conservative point of view.

I think comedian Chris Rock said it best, "“The Republicans are fucking idiots, the Democrats are fucking  idiots. Conservatives are idiots, liberals are idiots. Anyone who makes up their mind before they’ve heard the issue is a fucking fool. Everybody who wants to be down with the gang… ‘I’m a Liberal… I’m a Conservative’… That’s bullshit. Be a fucking person. Listen. Let it swirl around your head. Then form your opinion. No normal, decent person is one thing, okay? I got some shit I’m conservative about, I’ve got some shit I’m liberal about…”

One issue that I think I really come off as having a somewhat conservative, or old conservative point of view is globalization and Made in America. I say old conservative because my opinion reflects what I feel was a conservative idea thirty or forty years ago but now that conservatives are all about the bottom dollar I think they are fine with the global economy the way it is.

Myself on the other hand am not o.k with the way or country buys and sells American jobs to the lowest overseas bidder. Made in America used to mean something, it meant American jobs, American pride, and American ingenuity. Now it goes like this "Wow this was Made in America? Weird, you don't see that much anymore".

The lie that we have been fed is that a global economy makes for a strong economy. That may be true for Wall Street but who do you know that is making money off of Wall Street? Not me, not you, not most people you know. A strong global economy lines the pockets of the 1% and that is about it.

If we are serious about building our middle class again we need to move back towards and isolationist economic policy. You have a strong middle class when you have things that your country produces. We produce very little nowadays and of course we have a shrinking middle-class because of that. You want better jobs, better paying jobs, more job opportunities? Then we need to think of a global economy the way we think of the overly wealthy people not paying their fair share of taxes. We need to be disgusted by the greed that a global economy fosters and we need to have a push for "Made in America" only!

The argument I hear against this is, "Oh well that will hurt diplomatic relations with other countries". Who gives a fuck if it does? We spend all of this money on having the worlds strongest military times 100 and we think it would matter if China or Japan, or Korea are mad at us for cutting them off the American tit?

If it is not feasible to go totally isolationist economically wise we could at least make it expensive as fuck with tariffs and taxes for companies to ship jobs overseas. If they want to sell their made in Pakistan products over here it should cost them an arm and a leg. Same with a U.S. company selling overseas, if China gets mad and charges them a ton of money to sell there then oh well, pay up or sell your goods elsewhere.

We need to make it so that it is to expensive not to make your products in America. If this means companies will flee overseas to get back in the global economy and make their goods cheaper in some African or Asian shithole then they lose the U.S. market for good and nobody can afford that.

If you want another practical reason why a more isolationist economy would be better for the world? This would get rid of the cheap labor and cheap labor conditions that the American global economy now feeds on. If we are not buying from China then Apple will have to make their IPads in Boston instead of Bejing.

So buy American if you can and don't shop at overseas global scumbag places like Wal-Mart which ironically enough had a big Made in America campaign back in the eighties when they actually had their products Made in America.
